Feng Xuan, Ph.D.

Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder

Before founding Spear Bio, Feng Xuan was a Technology Development Fellow at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, where he invented the SPEAR technology.

His prior academic experience includes a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Feng holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Gerry Andros

SVP, Commercial

Gerald “Gerry” Andros leads the commercial functions as Senior Vice President of Commercial. Gerry is a seasoned Global Commercial Leader having served many organizations as a commercial lead for over 30 years launching both consumables, CRO services, and instrumentation in several market segments.  Gerry will be transitioning as a consultant for Spear Bio over the last 6 months where he has been developing the commercial strategy to begin the successful launch of new products into the Research market.  

Gerry began his career at Abbott Diagnostics as a direct representative, trainer, and sales leader for Abbott’s immunoassay, clinical chemistry, and hematology products. After 5 years at Abbott, Gerry joined IGEN International as their global commercial leader launching many new instruments, assay services, and assay kits into the proteomic area of research. In 10 years, which eventually established the foundation for Meso Scale Discovery after IGEN was acquired by Roche. 

Gerry for eight years next joined Applied Biosystems as the Applied Markets leader in the Americas for their market leading forensic products and other key products including food testing and microbial identification products. With the acquisition of Applied Biosystems by Life Technologies, Gerry continued to lead the Applied Markets effort while also becoming the Commercial lead in Latin America, Canada, as well as the US Government business, HLA products, and Gibco in the US.  

The last 12 years Gerry has been a global commercial leader at Bio-techne having started by leading the Americas multiple brands through acquisitions representing key brands of consumable (R&D Systems primarily) and Instrumentation (ProteinSimple primarily) product offerings.  Gerry during his tenure also managed EMEA, Asia, and led a global initiative for Key Accounts for Bio-Techne.

Cherry Fan, Ph.D.

Sr. Director, Assay Development

Before joining Spear Bio, Cherry Fan was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University's Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, where she co-developed the SPEAR technology.  Prior experience includes her role as project lead on ADA immunoassays and pre-clinical trial evaluation New Beta Innovation. Cherry holds a BS and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. 

Jen Katzburg

VP, Talent & Culture

Before joining Spear Bio, Jen Katzburg was the founding talent acquisition member at several life sciences companies, including BillionToOne and Quantum-Si.  In these roles, she built and scaled high-performing teams during periods of significant growth.  Jen holds a B.S. In Organizational Behavior and Communication from New York University.

Tracy Liu, Ph.D.

Director, Product Management

Before joining Spear Bio, Tracy Liu was Associate Director of Product Marketing at Quanterix, where she led strategic marketing initiatives for the Simoa® ultra-sensitive biomarker detection platform, including biomarker assay launches and cross-functional campaign alignment. She previously held senior roles in product management, marketing, and technical service at Bio-Techne, Inscripta, and Agilent Technologies, advancing innovative solutions in single-cell analysis, genome editing, and next-generation sequencing.

Tracy holds a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Toledo and is passionate about translating complex life science technologies into impactful products that empower biomarker discovery and clinical research.

Courtney Shirley, Ph.D.

Director, Product Marketing

Courtney Shirley, PhD, is Director of Product Marketing at Spear Bio, where she leads the company’s global marketing and communications strategy. Before joining Spear Bio, she held marketing leadership roles at Quanterix, leading product marketing, scientific content, digital strategy, and demand-generation initiatives for ultrasensitive biomarker technologies. Earlier in her career, Courtney served as Science Program Director at the Sturge-Weber Foundation, where she developed scientific programs, fostered research collaboration, and supported progress in understanding this rare neurological disorder. Courtney earned her PhD in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology-Pharmacology and Molecular Sciences from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Chi Tang, Ph.D.

Senior Director, NPI & Manufacturing Operations

Before joining Spear Bio, Chi Tang, served as Director of Product Transfer at Quanterix, where he led major initiatives in new product introduction, manufacturing scale‑up, and process optimization to support the rapid launch of next‑generation ultra‑sensitive immunoassays. He previously held leadership roles in technical operations and product transfer at T2 Biosystems and Siemens Healthineers, where he drove improvements in quality, manufacturability, and supply chain robustness across immunoassay and molecular diagnostics platforms.

Chi holds a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Connecticut, where he also earned dual B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Economics.

Oliver Tassinari

VP, Business Development & Sales

Before joining Spear Bio, Oliver Tassinari led Product and Program Management teams at Thermo Fisher Scientific. His prior experience includes several commercial and business development leadership roles at companies such as Sensata Technologies and Cabot Corporation. Oliver holds an MBA from the Tepper School at Carnegie Mellon University, and a BS in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University. 

Shunqiang (Shawn) Wang, Ph.D.

Sr. Director, Systems Design & Integration

Before joining Spear Bio, Shawn Wang was Director of Engineering at Vizgen, leading the instrumentation platform development for the company's industry-leading high-plex, spatial genomics solution. His prior experience includes roles of increasing responsibility and leadership in the development of advanced life science instrumentation tools in the fields of proteomics and next-generation DNA sequencing at Nautilus Biotechnology and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Shawn completed his postdoctoral training at Princeton University. Shawn holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and a B.S. in Mechatronics Engineering from Zhejiang University.

Zidong Wang, Ph.D.

Chief Operating Officer

Before joining Spear Bio, Zidong Wang served as Senior Director of Process Engineering at Quanterix Corporation, where he led major initiatives in new product development and addressed manufacturability challenges to improve quality and reduce costs. He previously held senior leadership roles in product development and operations at Breas Medical, Siemens, and Dow Chemical.

Zidong holds a Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is passionate about building scalable platforms that integrate technical innovation with operational excellence to advance scientific discovery and translational research.

John Wu

VP, Finance

Before joining Spear Bio, John Wu was Head of Finance at 3EO Health, where he was responsible for fundraising and the overall financial and administrative management of the company. His prior experience includes various financial leadership roles at companies such as Wuxi Nextcode, Oxford Immunotec, and Philips Medical Systems. John holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
