SPEAR UltraDetect™ BD-pTau 217 Assay
Precision CNS-Specific Biomarker Measurement for Alzheimer's Disease
Download the Application Note
Plasma pTau 217 is one of the strongest blood biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease (AD), but emerging evidence shows circulating pTau 217 is not exclusively brain-derived. Peripheral conditions and physiological confounders can impact total plasma measurements — particularly in early-stage and screening populations.
The SPEAR UltraDetect™ BD-pTau 217 Assay was developed to preferentially detect CNS-derived, low–molecular-weight pTau 217 species, improving AD specificity while maintaining ultra-high sensitivity and precision.
In this application note, you’ll learn how BD-pTau 217 delivers:
- Robust amyloid discrimination with 4.56× fold separation and AUC > 0.94 in a memory clinic cohort from the Global Alzheimer’s Platform.
- 100% quantifiability across all samples — including young healthy individuals — above a 25 fg/mL LLoQ.
- Exceptional analytical precision (4–6% CV) using just 1 μL of diluted plasma.
- Improved longitudinal stability, supporting reliable monitoring of subtle biological changes.
